Hello New Planner!

When I heard Michael's had their new planners in plus a 40% off coupon, I got there as quickly as I could! I instantly fell in love with this beauty below. The only problem...it was not the teacher edition. But, as any creative teacher does when they really want something, I came up with a way to justify getting this one over the teacher edition. It was simple actually... just take the teacher inserts you purchase seperately and insert them into this planner.
So, do you need a planner? I was not sure last year. We have to turn in a certain format for our lesson plans, so I did not want to do double the work and write plans twice. But...I couldn't stop thinking about all the pretty planners teachers on Periscope were showing off, so I joined the planner club. ONE OF MY BEST TEACHER DECISIONS EVER! Click HERE  to watch my video on how I use it(Video Disclaimer- I am not Steven Spielberg.) Below I have put a few more pictures with tips from the video as well.

On the right is my planner from last year, the teacher edition.

I can't stop staring at the inside cover of my newest planner!

One easy way to make the regular planners into a teacher edition is to buy the bookmarks. I love love love the stripes on this one. You can buy them in a 3 pack at Michael's. I use one bookmark for the current month, one for the checklist section, and one for the notes section.

Here is what the notes section looks like. The planner comes with one page, but you can buy an insert package that has many more pages. I love that when I jot down ideas at trainings, at home, in the classroom, wherever...they are all in one place and easy to find.

Here is what the checklist section looks like. You can obviously use it for grades and attendance, but I like to use it to keep up with who has turned in field trip forms as well as other forms that have to be signed and returned.

I use the giant paperclip below to mark the current month layout to the current week's layout.

When I first started planning I used these adorable and fun planner stickers. You can find them on Etsy or by searching the hashtag "planneraddict" or "plannerstickers" on Instagram. Now I just use the $1 sticker packs you can find at Michael's and A.C. Moore.

Made It Monday!

Happy Monday! I love how as teachers we are so excited for the summer, but as soon as we get our well deserved break, we are already thinking about the next school year. I have had a summer or two where I totally zoned out of teacher mode, but this summer I am super excited for the next year. I have been in PreK for the past 6 years and will now be teaching FIRST GRADE! Even though there are only 2 years in age difference between the grades, it is a huge transition. To help keep me on track this summer, I have come up with a daily schedule for my Instagram page. You can find me on Instagram as mrsgambolsfirstgradeescapades
